Outline: The protagonist (I don't think we ever hear a name) has a function, that includes killing other people. And apparantly he's very good at this.
Is it science fiction? In time, it's revealed, that the protagonist is a clone. So, in the sense that we can't clone people yet, yes, it's SF. Also because being a clone is central in the story.
Is it good? Oh yeah. There's a sense that a clone can ask (what we can't): why was I created -- and why was I created like this? Or, in other words: what is the meaning of life? Good stuff!
